My friend Sarah and I just made it to the tulip fields before they all died! We still had fun, but it was a different experience seeing only a few tulips blooming. If you're in the Portland Metro area, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn, OR is a short drive on 1-5 South. I should have paid more attention because the Tulip Fest started early this year in March, but usually it starts in April. Just remember early April for next year and I'll do the same!

Now onto the stylings for this photo shoot, which is all about the LuLaRoe Nicole dress. I attended a party where LuLaRoe clothes were being sold, which is the main way to purchase this brand. They are known for their leggings, which are super soft and comfy! The brand is all about comfort and everything is designed with that in mind. And I agree that as soon as I slipped on this dress, I thought, they're right--this really is comfortable. The Nicole style is very flattering too. I love the length of the sleeves and the awesome full circle skirt. You will feel feminine and pretty, I promise. Also, LulaRoe only makes 1,000 pieces in each print. So your dress is unique. The Nicole dress was $48 so I think it should be more exclusive at that price point. My sandals are from Ziera, one of my favorite shoe companies. I've had these gorgeous blue and white sandals for quite a while and finally have a dress that showcases them. Also, my lashes are from Huda Beauty. They are Scarlett #8 lashes and they are simply amazing. They are big, pretty lashes but still really comfortable. I love them and not just because they are named Scarlett like my favorite movie character in Gone with the Wind.

I don't purchase many clothing items in bold prints like this dress. What about you? Are prints a mainstay in your wardrobe or do you mostly stick to neutrals? Let me know in the comments below. Have a fabulous week!

Natural Glam makeup look inspired by Michelle Money makeup tutorial video

May 5, 2016 Melissa Chee

This video is all about looking your best with a natural glam makeup look. It's a look that you can wear with any outfit to any event and just look fabulous. I'm also sharing some tips I've learned taking a beta makeup course from the fabulous Michelle Money from The Bachelor. I would highly encourage you to take one of her courses, especially if you are a fan or Bachelor fan. Oh, and I almost forgot... this look was Money approved and I passed the course! :)

Review time with Dr. Brandt

May 2, 2016 Melissa Chee

I try to take the best care of my skin--cleansing, toning and moisturizing daily. However, sometimes my skin's texture isn't where I want it. It gets a little bumpy on my cheeks and it's not smooth. This is when I need to do some exfoliation.

Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion™ Pore Perfecting Exfoliator

This is a professional-grade physical and chemical exfoliator and pore perfector. It's designed to minimize pores while also making your skin smoother! The exfoliator deep cleanses pores. The product retails for $58.

Research results after 4 weeks using product
- 87% reported that product diminishes significantly the appearance of pores
- 97% reported that product deep cleanses pores
- 97% reported that the product helps reduce shine providing a matte look
- 97% reported that skin looks smoother and more even
- 100% reported that overall appearance of skin improved
- 100% reported that skin texture improved significantly

This exfoliator is a winner. My favorite part is that you will see immediate results the next day. The bumpy skin on my cheeks? Significantly smoother the very next morning.

To use, first cleanse your skin to remove any makeup. Next, apply water to your face and then apply Dr. Brandt's PoreDermabrasion™ Pore Perfecting Exfoliator. Rub the exfoliator on your face in circular motions for 1 - 2 minutes, leave the product on for a couple of minutes and then rinse. The product is a very fine exfoliator even smaller than grains of sand. You will feel this exfoliator, it's not the most soothing skin care step, but it definitely works. I have sensitive skin and after using the product over the course of several weeks--I didn't have any problems.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More® pore refiner primer

This primer mattifies shine and minimizes the look of pores. It is designed to act as an invisible barrier to prevent makeup from clogging pores, absorb oil, blur fine lines and imperfections. It retails for $45.

This is a great primer before you apply foundation. To use, begin with a clean and moisturized face. Next, apply Dr. Brandt's Pore No More pore refiner primer to your face. Focusing on the areas where you get oily like the T-zone. The product is a light beige color providing a little bit of coverage--your face looks instantly better. Love that! It also leaves your face velvety smooth with a great smooth base to apply your foundation. Using a primer before you apply foundation extends the wear of your foundation. So if you're going to have a long day or night, a primer is a great way to make sure you're still looking good hours after you apply your makeup. The only thing I didn't like about this product is the scent. It's a light aromatherapy type scent.

Have you used any Dr. Brandt products? What did you think?

*I received these products complimentary for review.

Purple Ombre Lip Makeup Tutorial Video

April 28, 2016 Melissa Chee

This video is all about the purple. I used 3 different liquid lipsticks from Cailyn to create a gradient ombre lip. The eye look relies on Urban Decay's Vice 4 palette. I'll admit I do love purple and it's one of my favorite colors, probably coming in right behind turquoise and hot pink. What is your favorite color and would you use it as a liquid lipstick?

Black and white casual

This black and white sweater was a clearance rack find from Lane Bryant. It's a graphic print that almost looks like an animal print. It works for anything: work or a casual day out. The denim skirt is a great versatile piece from Forever 21. The necklace is made from jade and freshwater pearls. It's from my trip to Guatemala last year. Guatemala is known for jade and there are amazing shops full of all different colors of the gemstone. Even though its only been a little over a year, it feels like a long time ago. I went with my work and Medical Teams International or MTI. You can join a trip through MTI and I would highly recommend it--completely life changing to spend time with the people of Guatemala! Have a great week.
