February 8, 2016 Melissa Chee

If you love pink or have the Urban Decay Electric palette, this look could be for you! And it's just in time for Valentine's Day. Click on the video above to see step-by-step instructions on how to create this look. Also, you can check out my other makeup videos here.

February 14 or Saint Valentine's Day is coming up soon! Do you have any fun plans for Valentine's Day? It's always a good excuse to wear some pink or red, eat chocolate and say I love you--even it's just to your BFF or mom. I already sent out a few sparkly cards to some college pals. Any excuse is good to keep in touch, right? Whatever you are up to, I hope you do have a Happy Valentine's Day. You are loved!

Barbie has certainly been in the news recently with Mattel rolling out three new body types for Barbie. I was pretty excited and very surprised to see a new curvy Barbie doll body type. I think it's awesome that Mattel is making dolls that look like more like real people. I'm thinking back about all the different dolls I've had in my life - Barbie, American Girl and plenty of baby dolls and I've never really had a doll that looked like me, definitely never a curvy doll. I read a lot of comments online from people who were upset that Mattel was changing Barbie's body type, but let's not forget Barbie's body has already changed many times. In recent years, Barbie's body was made more "realistic." Which as a sometimes collector, I actually didn't really like. But I think curvy Barbie doll is revolutionary and I love it. Also, there are still beautiful dolls available for Barbie collectors with different body types online. If money were no object, I would have every single doll in the Fashion Model Collection.

Now let's get to the outfit. This outfit relies on pieces from Torrid's Barbie collection. I bought several pieces from the collection straight away including this Barbie cardigan because I was concerned they would sell out quickly. The cardigan is versatile because a black cardigan goes with practically anything, at least in my wardrobe. But the dress was actually the real gem. I got it on clearance online and I had an extra coupon, I think it was only $12. I was blown away by the fit and quality of this dress. It fits like a dream and it's super flattering. Personally, I just thought it looked okay online, but in-person it's amazing. This is why I prefer to be able to try things on in-person at a store. Yes, it's great to shop online if you can't find what you're looking for anywhere else, but it's even better to be able to try things on in-person. You never really know for sure until you try something on how it's going to look on you. Something not so great on a hanger could look fabulous on you!

What do you think about the new Barbie body types tall, petite and curvy?

Also, I have a video on the makeup look in the photos above. Please check it out. I'll have more makeup videos coming soon too. I used Andrea lashes #23. They are super long, yet lightweight lashes - very versatile.

You need a facial!

Wearing Skinfood's Everyday Broccoli Facial Mask Sheet

It's hard to believe in 32 lovely years on this planet that I never had a facial. I had no idea what I was missing! We're talking pure bliss here ladies and your skin looks all glowy and even younger after your treatment. I actually think it was a good thing I started later in life. I'm thinking of all the money I saved on facials for these past years. But that is the past. I am now a true fan. One part stress reduction, one part skin care and one part bliss! I highly recommend getting a facial and seeing what you think. I am most definitely a fan now. I would say even if the results are only temporary, the relaxation is totally worth it. I've never felt better about my makeup free face.

So technically what is a facial? It's a spa treatment involving various skin treatments that may include steam, exfoliation, creams, lotions, facial masks, peels, massage and extractions. Facials are for general skin health as well as specific skin conditions, at least according to google.

I went to Ruby's Spa & Salon at McMenamins in Troutdale, Oregon for my facial. This is a lovely spa near the Portland Metro area. It's especially nice if you go with friends because you can enjoy the soaking pool out back. It's a beautiful large soaking pool so definitely set aside time to enjoy it. It's nice to come early enough to soak before you appointment. This way if you are getting any special creams applied you don't have to worry about accidentally washing them away in the soaking pool. Although, my friend who got a massage also soaked for a bit after her massage as recommended by her masseuse. Also, I've had a massage at this spa before which was also wonderful.

I chose the Clear Skin Facial which is an hour and $105. It's described on their website, "Let Mother Nature help cleanse and refine your complexion with healing, antibacterial element such as Hungarian mud, clays and more, custom blended for those with acne-prone or reactive skin. Our licensed estheticians will give you suggestions on specifically designed products and instructions to further treat your skin at home." However, my skin ended up having some dry patches on my treatment day, winter is harsh, right? So my lovely esthetician did adjust my treatment to be more moisturizing. In fact, I loved the moisturizer so much that I've been using it for my daytime moisturizer. It's the Eminence Organic Skin Care Rosehip Whip Moisturizer. (And I just realized it's way less expensive on Amazon.) I especially like that it has a beautiful matte finish, but it's still very moisturizing. Also, the moisturizer smells amazing--very citrusy. It's for designed for problem skin, which is pretty accurate for me. I still have the occasional zit pop up and I do have sensitive skin too.

Or if a spa facial is not in the budget currently, you can also try a facial mask at home. I used Skinfood's Broccoli Facial Mask Sheet in the photo above. It's a "hydrating mask that contains broccoli extract and promotes a healthy glow." And tell me who doesn't need a healthy glow? This is most definitely my favorite way to get in my vegetables.

Have you ever visited Ruby's Spa? Where is your favorite place to get a facial? Or do you have a favorite spa treatment?

Pink Valentine's Day Look

January 23, 2016 Melissa Chee

Hello lovely! I'm back with my second video. This time I did a Valentine's Day inspired look featuring a lot of pink. Nothing says Valentine's Day like pink, right? I also used almost every item in my January Ipsy bag. I planned to use every single one, but I forgot to use the mascara. Snaps. I also had a tragic mishap with my camera, which fell off the tripod. But luckily I had the video done enough that I was still able to put together this video. The lens didn't survive, but the camera did. If you do YouTube, please subscribe to my channel. Have a great weekend!

A dress with adorable tiny foxes? Who can resist. This cute dress is super flattering and even comes with a little brown belt for less than $20. Super cute items go super fast at Forever 21, so click the link below if you're interested because the dress is still available online. I love the 3/4 length sleeves--always my favorite--and the skirt has plenty of flare. It also has a lovely open back and little bow! I'm wearing Ardell's #886 lashes and Sephora's Walk of Fame lipstick. You can also check out my post from yesterday for a video on how to do this makeup look.

Happy Monday lovelies! Do you have any favorite outfits featuring cute animals?
