These Five Joys blog posts are my favorite. It's so simple and yet, it forces me to look back at all the awesome things that have happened lately. Even when I think, hmm... what can I include... once, I start looking there are so many options. So many little joyful moments. I mean just look at that Voodoo donut below. Have you ever seen a better Voodoo doll donut? He has the best face! But seriously, it's very natural for me to focus on work stress, but it takes actual effort to focus on the positive and things to be grateful for. This includes my new bed that will be delivered in a couple weeks, my upcoming Greece trip and going bowling with old friends recently. And here are some more...

Five Joys

Joy is not in things, it is... in us.

Joy really does seem to come from the simplest things. It can be reconnecting with an old friend or it could even be sparked by a genuine compliment from a stranger. I think one of the best ways to have more joy is by giving joy to someone else. Be the joy in someone's day and see if it spreads! I'd love to hear what you think. Is joy catching?

Five Joys

The practice of gratitude, for example, asking yourself the question, "What moments of joy have I recently experienced?" is a powerful practice. It reminds you to focus on the positive moments. Since what we focus on expands, it's great to concentrate on joy. After all, don't we all want more joy in our lives? When I think of joy, I think it's one step past just being happy... a more exuberant feeling. Thanks to Life by Lee for the Five Joys post idea.

What is it about a bunny that brings you such joy? Cuddling this little guy for a while was like therapy, but cheaper.

On a recent trip to Las Vegas, I caught up with a friend over a fancy drink in a beautiful setting. Friendships are often imperfect, but they are also essential to happiness and joy.

I got to spend a weekend at the coast with a friend and her dog Ripley who is dying of cancer. Even though the situation is heartbreaking, there is tremendous joy and love in the relationship a person can have with their best friend, human or animal.

Yes, Sprinkles cupcakes bring me joy. And that one in the bottom left corner is a limited edition Black Velvet cupcake--a little bit of super dark chocolate heaven.

I got this idea from another blogger Life by Lee. She reflects on little things that have brought her joy recently. I love this idea--what a great way to take some time to reflect in gratitude about all the good things. There are wonderful things in our lives, but it's too easy to focus on the problems or negatives. So here's my first Five Joys post. I hope that you have many joyful moments this week.
